The main topic at the meeting with the leadership of the Centre was the discussion of the VI Russian Congress of Mayors of Resort Cities "The role of the sanatorium and spa industry in the development of medical tourism, economy and infrastructure of resort cities" to be held on 17-18 October 2024 in the Chechen Republic. The Congress is organized by NMRC for Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, the National Association of Experts in Spa Treatment and the Association of Resort and Tourist Cities. The Congress will be attended by heads of administrations of the resort cities of the country, representatives of executive authorities in the field of health care, chief external experts in sanatorium and spa treatment, leading scientists and experts, directors of health resort organizations in Russia.

"For the first time in 6 years, the venue of the Russian Congress of Mayors of Resort Cities has been moved from the capital to another regional centre. And the congress venue was not chosen merely by chance. The Chechen Republic is rapidly developing its healthcare, including medical rehabilitation and health resort treatment, which is particularly important for promoting health protection of the country's population. Three years ago, NMRC for Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Russian Ministry of Health signed an agreement on close co-operation with the Ministry of Health of the Chechen Republic. Our specialists have repeatedly carried out organizational and methodological work, including field trips, which resulted in recommendations on maintaining medical records and keeping records on the operation of medical equipment, as well as on medical rehabilitation and spa treatment methods. In addition, delegations of health care experts and medical workers from the Chechen Republic have visited NMRC for Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for exchange of experience. At the same time, specialists from the Republic still receive training under the further training programme at our educational centre on a regular basis," said Anatoly Fesyun, Dr. Sci. (Medicine), associate professor, acting director of NMRC for Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the meeting with representatives of the Chechen Republic discussed the development of the sanatorium and spa industry within the frames of modern legislation, namely Federal Law No. 469- ФЗ "On natural medicinal resources, health and recreation areas and resorts".

At the end of the meeting, Anatoly Fesyun, acting director of NMRC for Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, thanked the representatives of the Chechen Republic for effective cooperation and expressed special gratitude to Khutmat Kadyrova, deputy head of the Secretariat of the Head of the Chechen Republic and supervisor of the healthcare sector of the Chechen Republic, as well as to the regional public foundation named after the First President of the Chechen Republic, Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov, for the equipment provided to the Centre, which is widely used for rehabilitation.
